Basics

  • This page is intended as a way for User: Eric to list various things that need repaired, and especially to aid in organizing research on how to do so
  • Mainly tech

List

Properly Broken

Logitech M570

  • I love this little Trackball Mouse and it's served me well
  • Click Buttons are failing though
  • Supposedly not too hard to desolder them + put new ones on there
  • May not be the best with my shakey hands though...
  • Also may be a Solder Paste + Reflow Oven type situation
  • I MAY get a new one in the meantime, but it really would be wasteful as outside of those switches wearing out, it still works great

Old Smartphones

  • My old Iphone 4s, and was it a 7 are currently in a drawyer
  • The latter failed unexpectedly + with my crappy pre-data archival being figured out setup, so getting that sent in to get revived, then get old notes/contacts+photos off of there would be nice (if possible)
  • If not that i should get them data destroyed + taken to a PROPER E-Waste Recycling Place rather than let em sit around

Old Broadcast Camera

  • All parts of it function, except the DV Tape Drive
  • Only way to fix is to probably send it in for repair?

CD Player

  • Dry Rotted Plastic Parts / Belts
  • Fixable, but need to sketch up the parts in CAD / Mess Around with That

Old Propane Stove

  • Needs a new regulator
    • got one but it doesn't fit, must be an older standard
      • Need to figure out what it is and see if an adapter is available OTS
        • If not sketch it up in cad / figure out what the wording would be in jargon "Oh an adapter from x/y NPT to z/w Metric Thread " etc

Old Gasoline Blowtorch

Old USB Power Bank

  • Need to tear it apart and diagnose; won't hold a charge

DLP Display Goggle Thing

  • Need to open up and remove swelling batter
  • Either replace it, or mod it to run off only USB power (More Batteries, More Problems...)

Old Binocular Microscope

  • Built in lamp was burnt out/not working
  • A new fuze didn't fix it
  • Got a LED Puck for it, will see tomorrow when it gets here/the weekend when if it works out

Only in Need of Software Hell Troubleshooting

My Laptop

  • Added an SSD but probably forgot to format it first, either way need to move the data OFF the old HDD and onto that new SSD

My Desktop

  • Got it used, it DID have all the specs they said, but the SSDs were NOT in RAID yet so i'll need to fix that
    • May wait a few paychecks and just jump to massive SSDs rather than configure it just to probably upgrade it later

Old Steam Deck SSD

  • May want to rip some game files off of it, new ssd is working fine but a game or two didn't have the data backed up to the cloud
  • Also check screenshots, although those not being on the new ssd isn't critical, as long as i occasionally power up the drive to prevent Data Rot etc until i eventually transfer it all to a NAS etc
