I’ve been making a playlist on YouTube, but a Sewing Machine + the Knowhow / Patterns to use it are a major enabler too.
I think the main advantages of everything sub-roll of fabric would be using novel materials like Semi-Synthetics or Precision Fermentation / Bio-Petrochemistry derived novel materials (in a world dominated by plastic and cotton)
Having an Open Source T-Shirt Pattern , Open Source Coveralls , Open Source Pants / Jeans etc
(Although short of checking labor/sustainability practices, that one person on YouTube trying to “make things the way they were” may be worth looking into as a partner)
Also Screen Printing / Dying Equipment / Open Source Embroidery Machine and all that are related as well.
I think the statement aspect (in a manner akin to the practice in Indian Self Reliance/Civil Disobedience) has a bit of an aspect of i’s own. (Re: Visible Mending etc)
Being able to not just have OSE Merch, but say I made this, or “WE MADE THIS and did it right” etc really has some power to it over some plasticky logo on a crappy shirt.
Granted easier said than done too, so i get it and there is balance to be had.
