No software-encoding of end-positions, its in the hardware of their trinamic drivers, the so called "StallGuard" technologiy. If the motor-movement is stopped by a physical barrier, the current-flow changes significantly, which is detected by the trinamic-chip-based driver. These drivers once have been btw. part of a crowdfunding campaign at indiegogo featuring a beaglebone-compatible cape named "T-Bone", see https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/t-bone-cape-for-diy-3d-printing-with-beaglebone#/ I just mention that because it means that this can act as an opensource reference-design.

Somewhat Snobby Page Move Request

• Going by their LinkedIn page etc it seems "PrusaResearch" is the pRoPeR NaMe, but this honestly works, and i don't want to be going around ripping pages up and throwing them about, especially since this one has a talk section
• Either way i just thought i'd throw this out there

Updates

• Mention the Prusa i3 MK4 and Prusa XL (Also SL1 to an extent)
• Interesting Aspects of Printables:
  • It shows each thing's liscence and has check marks summarizing what that means, sort of silently pushing people to creative comments (with attribution) i think. i'll need to double check, but it will hopefully lead to more advocacy for all that which is pretty neat\
  • They have frequently been running various competitions which:
    • Promote development of good models/products, especially in the area of " Practical Prints " (Not just figurines/toys/tools for printing the previous 2 things, granted all that can be fine to an extent)
  • There also is monetization in non-competition areas, this may be worth checking out.
