Basics
- This page goes over OSE (and other sub-groups (see OBI Aesthetic ) ) 's "Brand" / "Branding"
- As noted/rambled on about by User: Eric
- The page OSE Branding was where much of this was, but with OSE redoubling efforts in that area, it is now a proper page thus this op-ed type stuff has been moved here
- Mainly in an effort to asses it's current status, then determine potential improvements
Colors/Coloring
Context
- If you look at a "John Deer" device, or a "Ryboi" device, the color scheme makes it easily recognisable
- Thus if all (at least more "official" than a fork) OSE Devices have a similar color scheme in their outer layers/finish, this may help OSE's Branding
- IE people look at an Open Source Hand Drill at a jobsite and go "Oh, that's that "OSE" one right?" etc thus facilitating some Peer to Peer Marketing
Overall Design
- The way things look, such as a "regular" pickup truck, or Tesla's "Cybertruck"
- Typically angular vs smooth corners
- I think Gridbeam will constitute this for most OSE vehicles
- For 3D Printed Hand Tools etc this “look” is still (as of this edit) Undetermined
Sound Design
Context
- This is more subtle that visual etc, but it does exist
- Examples Are:
- The Sound of Various ICEs (A "Harley Davison Motorcycle" etc)
- Software sounds such as:
- Stock Ringtones (One can tell (at least if thr defaults are still used) if someone is carrying an iPhone, Android, or Samsung etc just by the sound design
- The AOL "You Got Mail" email notification sound
- These are subtle, but due to repetition become meaningful. Hence why things like "Glitch-Hop" and "Vaporwave" exist; they are music genres that play on that nostalgia
Potential Routes
- In Official OSE Videos etc Intro/Outro videos having some sort of standard jingle / format and that repetition would be akin to this
- In OSE Linux / an OSE Fork of an Open Source Mobile OS (the sounds of icons being clicked/alerts etc)
