- They are essentially a small scale Artificial Wetlands based filter and "buffer" between the Runoff from Surfaces as well as proper Storm Drains , and where the water is finally discharged to a body of water, or put into a Infiltration Basin for Groundwater Recharge
- Unlike an Infiltration Basin they often require a Pond Liner such as a Geomembrane to contain the contaminates and maintain the Water Level
