Attribution Reminder

Remember, be sure to attribute any libre soundtracks you use to the original author either in credits within the video or the text released with the video (ie: youtube description field).

Commercial Use

Here we link to a few cherry-picked songs/albums that are libre for commercial use.

The Internet Archive

We can search the entire IA for items licensed by CC-BY or CC-BY-SA (excluding any NC or ND items) using the following query 

licenseurl:http*by* OR licenseurl:http*by-sa* AND NOT licenseurl:http*by-nc*

For example, https://archive.org/search.php?query=licenseurl%3Ahttp%2Aby%2A+OR+licenseurl%3Ahttp%2Aby-sa%2A+AND+NOT+licenseurl%3Ahttp%2Aby-nc%2A

We can further refine the query by limiting to audio-only items by adding AND mediatype:(audio) to the query: 

licenseurl:http*by* OR licenseurl:http*by-sa* AND NOT licenseurl:http*by-nc* AND mediatype:(audio)

CCMixter

  • Ccmixter.org hosts music freely shared by artists. The uploaded soundtracks are licensed under Creative Commons licenses, and most are Non Commercial.

There appears to be no way to search by license, but here's some cherry-picked titles, separated by use for commercial or non-commercial.
