Payment of the $10k fee and $10k materials budget marks formal acceptance into the 2 year program. At this time, OSE commits to the 50 weekly sessions in the first year focusing on skills training, and another 50 weeks in Year 2 focusing on continuing product improvement, see (OSE Chapter Training Calendar).

The materials funding will be held in escrow, with disbursement pending project pitches.

All due diligence and risk analysis is performed beforehand, and the program is started in good faith of success.

The OSE Chapter may begin producing and marketing products pending producer certification, which includes the ability to produce a kit, the ability to find sourcing and understand admissible parts, and ability to troubleshoot completely.

The privileges of being an OSE Chapter include access to operating under the OSE brand, partial fiscal sponsorship for the nonprofit sector, collaborative marketing assistance, provision of a Google Ad Words marketing budget, assistance in setting up a website, and posting of products at the Open Source Everything Store, and free tuition (outside of materials and other hard costs) to all of OSE's workshops and training courses.

The 2 year training period is an OSE Chapter in Training period. After this time, a contract will be drawn up for the facility as a full OSE Chapter. Basic terms are:

  1. Access to producing OSE-certified hardware and running OSE-certified workshops under the OSE brand
  2. Free tuition to continuing education through new workshops and products, available free of charge (outside of hard costs) to OSE Chapter staff
  3. Access to the Open Source Everything Store listing
  4. 5% annual chapter fee based on net revenue
