GVCS 50/2/2
This is the log of an evolving strategic development plan for GVCS 50/2/2 - the goal of completing the GVCS in 2 years within a $2M budget. First, look at the GVCS 50 - the 50 tools of the Global Village Construction Set (GVCS). *See GVCS Tools Status for development status by prototype (1-3) and by 31 steps for completing each prototype.
General Strategy
We are currently finishing up reorganization of OSE with:
- advent of our new opensourceecology.org website
- completion of a Fiscal Sponsorship agreement with the 501(c)3 Terra Foundation
- beginning on resource development with Julia Valentine
- completion of a 750 square foot workship addition at Factor e Farm
- Strategic business advisory role - Adrian Hong joins the project
The present trajectory of GVCS development involves proof-of-concept on high-value bootstrap earnings via production of GVCS tools, with our production run of tractors, CEB presses, and soil pulverizers in April-May. We predict large increase in this as the feasibility of our equipment is demonstrated in scenarios outside of Factor e Farm.
Our goals are:
- Ramp up resource development to $500k in 6 months, and $2M within 18 months
- Scale production to demonstrate $100k/person/year earning potential via flexible fabrication of all GVCS tools by year-end 2012. Our business model is Distributive Economics
- Distribute $1B of economic production by year-end 2014, concurrent with first prototype post-scarcity community of 200 people on 200 acres built at Factor e Farm or similar suitable location
- Distribute $1T of economic production by year-end 2016, concurrent with viral replication of resilient communities worldwide
Proposed Timeline
- Production run at Factor e Farm - April 4, 2011 - May 31
- Expected bootstrap funding of about $30k by June 1
- Kickstarter campaign for the Open Source Microfactory- April 14, 2011
- Expected deliverables: $100k of funding by June 1
- Full Product Releases: Tractor, Pulverizer, and second prototype of Torch Table, by June 1, see Product Ecologies
- Prioritized order of development:
- Microfactory Prototype Cycle - by Sep 1, 2011 - 13 ongoing prototypes (
- Factor e Farm
