Basics
- Often Abbreviated as CBAT
- Advanced Treatment of Water (Typically A Secondary/Tertiary Phase of Wastewater Treatment for Blackwater Recycling to Potable Water , although it could also be used at a Water Plant using Rainwater Capture or Riverbank Filtration etc
- Although most systems cannot adjust Salinity / TDS so those cases are better suited to Reverse Osmosis Advanced Treatment
- Although POTENTIALLY CBAT could be used to reduce the Brine to just Salts etc, but this would be the cost of BOTH system, and unless the benefit is major (and/or Reverse Osmosis Brine Disposal is a sufficiently major factor, this solution seems debatable
- Although most systems cannot adjust Salinity / TDS so those cases are better suited to Reverse Osmosis Advanced Treatment
- While the process can use Filtration, Ozonation (Water Treatment) , UVGI (Water Treatment) , and other technologies, in CBAT the MAJORITY of the work is being done by Activated Carbon (typically Granulated Activated Carbon ) and/or Biological Activated Carbon hence the name
Internal Links
- Open Source Modular Carbon Based Advanced Treatment Train
- Due to the use of Appropriate Materials , and the ability to even remove Contaminants of Emerging Concern etc, this technology would be VERY useful if Open Sourced and implemented widely
- With the caveat of it being used AFTER a primary Sedimentation and/or Anaerobic Digestion stage
- Then either use for Irrigation as Reclaimed Water (if use as potable water is too taboo/hard to reach the standard, think Greywater Gardens etc), or ideally as Potable Water
