Open Source Motorized Display Turntable
Contents
Introduction
- Similar to a CNC Turntable, but optimized for display/photography/photogrammetry use
- Less torque and rugged than the cnc version, but as precise
- Perhaps make it have white, green, and black "finishes" / plates/covers for matching backdrops?

Existing Open Source Designs
Minimum Viable Product
- Standard Mounting Screws
- Make the mounting point a module?
- "dumb" spin at a certain rpm mode
- Remote Control Mode
- G-Code Based mode (especially useful as a 3d scanner)
- Small form factor?
- Use either a nema stepper, or a hobby servo?
- 0.005 Degree Resolution or better
Basic Design
Shell
- 3d printed, then post processed, then painted?
- Also modular for different colors? (or make a shell outside the structualshell for this??)
Control Circuitry
- A Stepper/Servo Driver (only needs 1 channel)
- IR Remote in?
- Bluetooth/wifi in
- USB (preferabbly usb-c)
Motor
- Need to find max res of a stepper (driver dependant isn't it?)
Bearing
- 3D Printed Turntable Bearing
- This roller based design
- Be extra and use POM filament? Source of POM Filament ~25USD/Kg
Gearbox
- A simple gear reduction (planetary gear?)
- Not 100% needed but could improve precision (?), and would slow speed which may be useful
