Talk:Locking Pliers

At welding school, we use those Vice Grips ones i linked to, and the hinged jaws seem quite flimsy, and also seize up if filled with "gunk" (we dunk hot plates in water, which is now less water moreso Welding Slag + Metal Dust/Rust - Water Solution, and some pliers are now brown ish on the tips instead of shiny)

Also the lever can be hard to release if the plate is held tight, and it can be hard to fit a Welding Glove covered hand into the small gap, and press the lever with that reduced dexterity

Also the spring can become dislodged; a screwed on version would be better

Finally there are some instances where the screw siezes up either due to internal "gunk" or splatter leading to welded on BB sized bumps

My suggestions would be better hinges/jaws, a screw or bolt secured spring, and more ergonomic design

OSE version could do this perhaps!

Maybe even just Cast aluminum may work?
