Talk:Two Wheeled Velomobile

So as of late, I just finished my first term (summer session b) at UNF. Going into Fall term my commute will increase so i have been exploring my options. A hybrid bike is tempting, but weather is an issue (Thunderstorms can be an everyday occcurence most Florida Summers). Three Wheeled Velomobiles are More Costly, and too large for my needs as a solo commuter with occasional groceries or one passenger etc. Thus I have been pondering this idea. There are some commercial designs, although as with velomobiles their adoption is quite small. My need for this isn't too desperate, as the UNF bus system is adequate and free for students, but it would be convienient. Also I will be able to use the University's Fab Lab if I decide to go through with the build.

Main Limiting Factors are Cost, Structual Soundness of a Stock Bike Frame (I have considered welding my own, as that would be a good way to force myself to learn welding), Battery Size + Fuel Cell/Generator Availability, The Making of the Shell, and the Plexiglass Work (I also heard this UV Degrades Pretty Bad)

One concern is that the florida heat would turn it into a small oven. Hopefully a small solar vent fan and some air scoops can fix this!

So that is my reasoning behind this page, and I will try to keep you all updated on this pie in the sky project of mine!
