World Tour
Introduction
Planning OSE World Tour for late 2020. Marcin is publishing a book (aimed date of June 2020) and going on world tour to promote the OSE culture as well as the Incentive Challenge and open source entrepreneurship. Places to visit upon world tour of lectures, meetings, and workshops. Public lectures, 5 hour build workshops for 3D printers and filament makers, and other activities will occur on a daily schedule in different locations. World tour will be two 1-2 month sessions, startng Dec 1 in the Southern hemisphere, and March 1 in the Northern hemisphere. The tour must be self-funding via honoraria, lecture fees, fundraising dinners, and other sponsorships. Revenue will be used mostly for infrastructure at the OSE Campus to increase the quality of OSE immersion training. Selection criteria for locations includes:
- High value open source projects - eg. Apertus, Wikihouse, Social Vehicle, Blender, Debian, Lulzbot, Rodale Institute, Badgersett Farms,
- Major urban centers with multiple stakeholders interested in hosting and starting OSE-based entrepreneurship
- Leading think-tanks and thought leaders on pressing world issues, such as Rocky Mountain Institute
- University and public lectures at progressive universities - such as Olin School of Engineering, Maharishi University, HIllsdale College, Michigan Tech Open Source Sustainability Group, etc.
- Conference keynotes at mission-aligned conferences
- Hands-on training workshops for the Incentive Challenge with 2 tracks - Technology (3D Printing, Plastic Recycling, Electric Motors+Geardowns, and Cordless Tool Design), and Entrepreneurship (Distributive Enterprise, Production Engineering, Marketing, Distribution, Open Source Franchise)
- Benefactors, collaborators, allied projects of world impact, and other opportunies for increasing collaboration
Recruiting
We are looking for a Tour Organizer to line up venues and logistics for the tour using a revenue share model. Organizer would work closely with Marcin to select the most strategic and productive schedule for the tour. We are currently looking at an ambitious schedule of a presentation, workshop, or otehr event every day - with revenue goals of $5k/day for various engagements. Email ops at opensourceecology.org if you are interested.
Strategy
Work with training local facilitators for STEAM Camps. We coordinate public speaking event the night before the STEAM Camp. All instructors are trained in OSE Core 4 Days: 3DP, Circuits + DIY Arduno, Motor + Mill, and Battery + Cordless Welder. This allows for higher stakeholdership, but requires more refined curriculum. To refine curriculum, position the workshop to the instructors that they join a dynamic innovation community, and it's a chance to run a sideline business. The instructors contribute content, and gain experience of other areas. The offer must be compelling to the instructors from the learning perspective - which selects for growth mindset in the instructors.
