Living Machines (LM) - Living machines are living systems with sufficient measurement of internal processes, inputs and outputs; so as to allow the control of the living system for purposes determined by the controller. For our purposes, these are integrated water treatment systems based on living ecosystems - housed in a greenhouse in cold climates - for recycling all waste water up to drinking quality. This is one avenue for handling all human organic waste. The notable feature is possibility of integrating living machines with food production - and obtaining drinking water at the same time.
