Basics
- The conversion of some form of recylcing/waste material into a material in a different use case, with higher utility
- Unlike the concept of Creative Reuse this page goes into more technical applications
As Aggregate
- Clinkers, Slag , and old cement/concrete debris can be used as aggregate in new Concrete mixed
- Some processes may be needed to obtain the proper particle size
As Fiber
- Polyester is essentially just recycled PET (Plastics)
As Insulation
- Many types of Clinkers, Slag can be made into Basalt Fiber / Fiberglass and thus can be used like Fiberglass Batting Insulation
- Waste Plastic can also be used in this manner, but this may not be the best usecase if other technologies are available
As Breakwater Material
- Clinkers, Slag , and old cement/concrete debris can be used as material for roads/paths in a similar manner to gravel
- Some processes may be needed to obtain the proper particle size, and geometry
- Also, given in this use case the material will be exposed to the enviroment and people, research/testing needs to be conducted to ensure it is not toxic (mainly as a leaching risk, but dust inhalation / bioaccumulation are also potential risks
As Road Material
- Clinkers, Slag , and old cement/concrete debris can be used as material for roads/paths in a similar manner to gravel
- Some processes may be needed to obtain the proper particle size, and smoothness
- Also, given in this use case the material will be exposed to the enviroment and people, research/testing needs to be conducted to ensure it is not toxic (mainly as a leaching risk, but dust inhalation / bioaccumulation are also potential risks
