Coker Unit

Basics

• A Part of a Petrolium / Bio-Refinery that takes lower distillates from things like the Fractional Distilation Column / Vacuum Distilation Unit (So Bio-Tar etc), and converts them into Syngas , Higher Distillates , and Petroleum Coke

Current Methods Using

Fluidized Coking

• Same concept really, but with a Fluidized Bed

Flex Coking

• Adds a system for Gasification of the resulting petcoke
• Allows for flexible production of either petcoke and syngas, or just syngas, etc depending on needs

OSE Workflow Plotting

• Sort of Flex Coking+
• Essentially be able to produce:
  • Bio-Asphalt
  • Bio-Petcoke
  • Bio-Tar (Maybe not this? Also the tar vs asphalt mess)
  • Syngas
    • and Hydrogen ? if this is a single facility, and sending it off to another part of the Eco Industrial Park to accomplish this isn't an option
  • Or some combination of any/all of these
• This is because while tar is less valuable (?), OSE may vaule Asphalt Concrete for Pavement given it's recyclability?
  • Need to review if the potential runoff / emissions is an issue?
