Design

General design: masses fund it, masses participate in numerous tasks to which they are educated to collaborate upon, and peak performers are paid to help attract the masses, and $150k proto budget ($75/person) is disbursed in the 3 days, not before or after to keep the intensity up. Main roles are architecture, design, prototype, document. Documentation is the masses - enabled by collaborative literacy. Architecture is the heavyweight modular product management. Design is the SMEs, and prototype is the reification that happens in realtime during the event with qualified people.

  • Minimum of 2000 people - event is not held unless 2000 people commit. This allows for a significant prototyping budget, and jobs to be created for the lead organizers based on outcome. Proper incentivization.

  • Product is the interior design-less version - which is filled in as needed via crowd contributions. Could definitely do a contest.

Irresistable Offer

  1. Learn to Stand on the Shoulders of Giants: that you can have ready access to massive amounts of work that you can build upon, and build an ambitious product by standing on the shoulders of giants. All of human knowledge - is theoretically accessible at your fingertips. Learn how to make this wild promise a reality in your life by producing a product over one weekend - that would take many years otherwise. (Any product stands on the shoulders of giants. Learn tha if you learn to stand on the shoulers of giants, you can do amazing things - but only if you can unlock collaborative genius.)
  2. What are the critical elements of an irresistable offer?
    1. Killer vid?
    2. Valuable product - participants get it at cost, and Enterprise Manual for free
    3. Learn valuable skills - do you want to learn open source product design tools and techniques that can transform your workplace to collaborative? Get access to a whole series and make products come alive. (Challenge: we haven't mastered getting people to show up yet)
    4. Learn effective techniques for crowdsource design and apply it to your workplace. Key: protocolization, standards and templates, task breakdown, and open source toolchains, which means you open up the potential labor pool to many more people (Applies to fulfilling house mods for Plan Check Documents).
    5. Learn to design your dream house like a professional. As a result, you will be able to take 6 house modules - and like Legos - compose them - so that you can build a house of many shapes and forms.
  3. Be part of the solution. Visionary pitch.
  4. We need you to help unleash collaborative genius of crowds: develop the best house in the world.
  5. Crowdsourcing is not collaborative. We make it collaborative.
  6. Join, and Develop and get a discount on the 2 Week Seed Eco-Home Build.
  7. Get in line to order the house
  8. We are about delivering by training a workforce of thousands of builders around the world. All proceeds go to scholarships for Builder tech school training.
  9. What is the message to enterprises? Transform your workplace by learning method of large-scale, crowd-collaborative development. Learn various tools and techniques that you can use for design work, and how to leverage crowd-development sites - including our own - to lower your design and development costs. Learn how to involve the crowds to develop for you. (Trick is - many companies privatize that benefit - and we work for the common good - so how to overcome this? Crowdsourcing in business means 'turking the poor'
  10. Several specific messages and perks to target audiences, or one general offer?

Microtasks

Specifically defined microtasks for the Hackathon can assure a high level of coordination along specific development points required for success at scale. To this end, we are defining specific tasks, which individuals with a specific skill set, can contribute to. As usual, we focus on tasks that create rapid learning resources. Thus, whenever we ask for a certain task, we always ask for metalevel Design Guides that would allow others to contribute to/modify the design produced, using open source toolchains. This is our way to assure mass collaboration potential.

  1. Open Source Arduino Transfer Switch - a 200A, automated transfer switch that senses power level of the battery bank, and switches power from solar inverters to the grid if the battery bank drops below the set level. A simple way to do this is to use Solid State Relays, at 40A each, and an Arduino, for a transfer capacity of 200A. This is to be done without losing power by switching within 1/10 or less of a second. Apparent switching time of an SSR is 1 ms, wo this should be easy to accomplish by 1 ms shutoff followed by 1 ms turn-on, even with loads on. Load management should be such that extra heavy loads such as 15kW pool heater are not on while the transfer operation is taking place
  2. Transfer Switch App - wireless app for android which allows remote control of the transfer switch, over-riding the automatic switch to grid. Person works together with the Arduino Transfer Switch team.
