I tried OSE Linux a while back on a live usb, and it didn't work (some sort), granted i'm not too used to all the BIOS stuff, and have never run linux before.
I may try and get that going as well, see replicatability i guess. Best of luck!
The live usb is fine for the purposes of the dev test, but I was happy when I didn't have to use it anymore. Soon after I installed it permanently, it seemed to go through a massive update, so you may find it easier to work with. I'm not sure if the live version has the same update?
When you're ready to work with it, I recommend finding a more permanent solution, such as dual booting, using a virtual machine, or installing it to a dedicated machine. I had trouble getting my virtual machine working, but it doesn't mean it can't be done. I probably would have kept trying if I didn't realize I had a laptop perfect for it.
