An abbreviation for Synthesis Gas
A Mixture of Carbon Monoxide and/or Hydrogen made from a number of processes
- It can be made from the Gasification of Solid Fuels (and also MSW / RDF , Slurry Fuels (including Sewage Sludge / Human Biosolids / Manure Slurry )
- It can be made from Fuel Reforming , in particular Steam Methane Reforming
- It can be made from Pyrolysis
  - Although Pyrolysis Gas is sometimes distinct in important ways hence deserving of a different name, along with the related Coal Gas / Town Gas

Main Advantages

Can be used directly as a Fuel in crude burners, with some cleanup can be used in COTS Engines

Storage
SAFETY
- Given it is either pure Carbon Monoxide (the “silent killer” we worry about Gas Appliances/ICE Driven Vehicles/Emergency Supplies making in homes in trace amounts etc), or a mix of that and Hydrogen (with it’s Hydrogen Embrittlement and low LEL concerns), it is a bit of a safety headache
  - This can be remedied by only generating when needed (such as the Charcoal Gasifier ), or via G2L tech, converting it into “safer” (or at least easier handled/tracked) fuels

API / USCSB / OSHA etc related Rules, Regulations, and Recommendations on it’s use/handling
- In particular Gas Piping + Gas Storage Tank Materials, Pressures, things to look out for, Hazards and how to mitigate them etc
Impacts on Engines Long Term
- Is it comprable to using LPG / Propane / Autogas
- Do any novel issues occur
  - Mainly Hydrogen Embrittlement and Catalyst Poisoning ?

Coal Gas / Town Gas (Related Historical Terms)
Water Gas (Partially Historical Term, Related to the Water Gas Shift Reaction which turns Syngas into a MOSTLY Hydrogen Gas Stream)
- PROX and Amine Scrubbing (or similar technology, for CO2 Scrubbing , if needed) can improve the purity further
