Strategy:

  • List steps in order of duty – Power Cube to Tractor to CEB press
  • Assess capacity required and allocate tasks to 6 fabricators and local shop
  • List risks and recovery plans
  • Assess daily, before and after workday
  • Draw up personnel plan, detailed

Assemble H-arms

Mount Loader Arms

Build QA Plate Mounting Eyes

  • Cut [2] 3x7x1" pieces with bandsaw
  • Weld pieces together
  • Drill pieces for eye hole
  • Torch out slit
  • Cut piece of 1" rebar for inside of arms, reinforcement
  • Insert 1" shaft through both eyes of tractor arms
  • Weld eyes in place

Mount Cylinders

  • Drill cylinder mount plate holes in loader arms
  • Mount cylinder plates (2 per arm)
  • With loader arms in place, arrange bottom and top mounts, drill holes
  • Attach main cylinder to arms
  • With main cylinder attached, finetune location of bottom cylinder mount for equal extension of cylinders
  • Drill bottom mount locations
  • Bolt bottom mounts

Main Cylinder Bottom Mounts

  • Cut 6x12x1/2 plate
  • [2] Cut 4x6x1/2 plate
  • Drill or punch 1" hole for pin
  • Weld nuts onto [2] plates on outside
  • Tack [2] plates about 3.5" apart for cylinder mounting
  • Weld with pin in holes (to maintain alignment of pin)

Main Cylinder Top/2nd Cyl Bottom Mounts

  • Cut 6x12x1/2" plate
  • Drill 4 holes on 2 pin holes on each plate
  • Weld 1" drilled out nut onto plates
  • Bolt to arms

Wheel Shafts

  • Cut 1-7/8" shafts to 28"
  • Cut 6" long collars from 2" pipe
  • Label collar and shaft, as these are paired up and can't be confused between shafts.
  • Drill 3/4" hole for wheel plate mounting through shaft and collar
    • Drill through collar and shaft at the same time
  • Weld on reinforcing nuts on collars
  • End drill 3.5" deep (on a lathe) the 1-3/8" receiver for 6-spline standard PTO shafting

Wheel Mounting Plates

  • Prepare plates, 4 per tractor - 8x10x1/2"
  • Download CAM files for wheel plates -[1]
  • Configure LinuxCNC
  • Torch out plates (or cut by hand)
  • Cut gussets - right angle triangles with 4" legs - 4 per wheel
  • Weld gussets onto plates

Hydraulic Motor Interface Plates

  • Prepare plates, 4 per tractor - 6x8x1/2"
  • Download CAM files for interface plates - []
  • Torch out plates (or cut by hand)
