Overview

Crushers replace hand tools and muscle with a machine to break things into smaller things.

Crushers are commonly used in mineral processing and recycling workflows to fracture or compress some given size range of objects down into a smaller range.

The common type in basic mining operations is a jaw crusher, which uses a V shaped funnel with one edge stationary and the other repeatedly moving back and forth.

Crushers differ from mills, in that they are meant as a 'first stage' for larger, harder, and more heterogeneous materials.
