Hardware development

  1. Software for controlling CNC motor. See Open Source Stepper Motor Controller and Electric Motor Controls
  2. Learn more about power electronics and start implementing related open-source technologies. Crash Course on Power Electronics
  3. Complete CA files for the tractor. See http://openfarmtech.org/weblog/2011/04/going-digital/

Web presence

  1. Import bbPress forum posts into Vanilla Forums (http://openecology.org/forum/)
  2. Import forum posts from FeF
  3. Provide SSO

Wiki

  1. Each of the tools (listed at GVCS tools) should have a standardized, clear, navigable set of instructions. See Product Template. The CEB Press and LifeTrac are the priorities
  2. Merge Wiki instructions and Wiki Policy
  3. Go thru Special:Allpages and Special:UncategorizedPages and categorize each page using the breadcrumb template (explained here)
  4. Find pages in nonstandard categories (check the list of categories) and put them in standard categories. (The list of standard categories will need to be expanded over time.)
  5. Many pages are very small and can be merged into larger related pages. When done, the tpage should be turned into a redirect to the larger page. See: Merging and moving pages
  6. Merge different development templates: GVCS Development Template, Global Village Construction Set - 'deployment' and 'product cycle' sections, possibly others scattered around the wiki and blog post them here
  7. Special:WantedCategories provides a list with categories that potentially need to be merged or removed.
  8. Category:Candidates for speedy deletion should be reviewed and acted upon
  9. Special:WantedTemplates
  10. Please add pictures to as many pages as possible. It doesn't matter if they don't provide extra information; they just make the page nicer to look at.
  11. Add a page on explaining how to use templates and listing available templates.
  12. See the list of 'Wanted' tags on the wiki and take care of them

Funding

Three conditions should be met to create a credible fundraising solicitation for high net worth (hnw) individuals and foundations.

  1. Clear presentation of the project's mission and significance.
  2. Plan to achieve that mission with milestones, budget breakdown, etc.
  3. One completed iteration of the Open Source Development Pipeline that shows how each of the 40 items will be developed and 'opened.'

Possible Funding Channels

  • High net worth individuals (ex. rich kids, financial service professionals
  • Progressive foundations See list at Foundations
  • True Fans (subscription basis)
  • Selling hardware

Recruiting

  1. Find subject matter experts
