Sicania Cooperative Current Situation:
Sicania Nova is a worker cooperative under the Social Economy Enterprises. Its main objective is the creation of ethical employment, especially for youth in the rural world, practical training and the promotion of cooperation as a way of generating new decent jobs for its members and partners, as well as giving the rest of society a chance to progress and fare well.
Objectives:
- Create stable and quality employment.
- Encourage the development and use of renewable energy.
- Promote respect for the environment.
- Encourage a cooperative and social economy.
Methods of achieving these objectives:
- The short-term creation of jobs through activities related to the principles of the cooperative.
- The construction of a development and training centre in renewable energy.
- Convert the cooperative into an integral cooperative that can meet the needs of its partners.
The cooperative has several advantages:
- It has “legal identity” so it will save time if anyone wishes to undertake a new project.
- There is land available for farming and a workshop.
- In addition to the available land there are people willing to give up their land they are not using to new projects.
