The hydraulics for the secondary cylinder require a 90 degree elbow on one side, and a needle valve on the other. You can use whatever fittings you so desire to achieve this, heres what we used.

Tools Required

  • Various wrenches
  • Crescent wrench

Materials Required

Note: NPT means national pipe thread, and refers to the interior diameter of the hoses. NPTM means a male end, and NPTF means a female end.

  • Thread tape
  • 3/8" NPT Hex nipple (2) Buy
  • 1/2" NPT to 3/8" NPT bushing (2) Buy
  • 1/2" NPTF to 1/2" NPTF 90 Elbow (1) Buy
  • 1/2" NPT Needle Valve Buy
  • 1/2"x36" NPTM Hydraulic hoses (2)

Fabrication Steps

  • Its reccomended you wait to put the hoses on the cylinder until its in place, so you can get good leverage.
  • Always wrap thread tape clockwise when facing the threaded portion. Thread tape is necessary between each connection unless otherwise stated.
  • Always keep the end caps on hoses and fittings until you need to take them off. They need to stay protected inside.

The needle valve hose

The needle valve hose.
  1. Clamp the male to female adapter in the vise and tighten the 3/8" coupler to it.
  2. Clamp one 36" hydraulic hose into a vise.
  3. Tighten the needle valve down onto it.
  4. Clamp the needle valve in the vise.
  5. Tighten the female to male adapter and coupler to it.

The elbow

  • The hose will be attached when the secondary cylinder is being attached. The instructions are just for the elbow.
  1. Clamp the male to female adapter in the vise and tighten the 3/8" coupler to it.
  2. Put the T-adapter in the vise, so one of the sides (not the middle hole) is facing up.
  3. Tighten the 3/4" plug into one of the sides.
  4. Turn the adapter in the vise so the middle hole is facing up.
  5. Tighten the adapter and coupler into it.
