About
The aim of the OSE Apprenticeship, which is the first 4 years of the total 12 year OSE education experience, is several:

The focus is learning to start enterprise around the Seed Eco-Home 2 - by becoming a builder, desinger, machine builder, or entrepreneur working to Solve Housing and other Pressing World Issues.
#To reach the edge of knowledge: to understand what are the unsolved issues and development needs in all of human endeavors. This spans everything from basic societal issues such as wealth distribution or racism - to difficult research problems - see Convergent Research - and to the design of modern institutions and infrastructures.
#To learn to design and build just about anything. This means learning how technology, infrastructures, and institutions are designed - and learning divergent thinking and convergent collaboration to design solutions in out-of-box, creative ways.
#To gain financial independence as a means to work on important issues and problems for as long as it takes to arrive at solutions, as opposed to simply trying to survive or make a living.

In this time in history with building materials prices rising fast like Bitcoin - it's a good reminder to solve the supply chain issue for housing. Ib 6 months, we'd like to make lumber, block, and plastic construction materials widely accessible at the lowest cost possible. This means - we get to product release the CNC sawmill, next generation of our compressed earthblock press, and large 3D printers with filament recycling infrastructure. Welcome - to the world of collaborative design.

We will take up to 24 people for this in-depth immersion program, where we build upon the last decade of OSE work - and go the last mile to product release. Wait a minute - we already built a couple sawmills. Our brick press is near perfection - we just need to include a soil conditioner for soil prep - which we found was the hard part of making CEBs affordable. We made about 9 iterations on the tractor. And we already sell 3D printers. It's time to put this to the finish line as we take these products to wide replicability.

In the 6 month immersion - we work in monthly cycles. First we scale up the 3D printer. We already know how to do this with our modular, Universal Axis system. We will innovate on 4-head 3D printers that extrude up to 80 lb of plastic - per day - yes, you heard correctly - with larger heater blocks and 1.4 mm nozzles - that's enough to build one of our full sized - 4x8 construction panels - in a single day. We then build a swing blade sawmill, and add Universal Axis CNC control to it. We then take the CEB press to the finish line with a hammermill-based soil conditioner that doses cement and water into the soil mix. You can then build with any soil and rock materials anywhere - your cost will depend on how much cement you need to use - from none up to 15 percent. That's just a technical taste of the program.

Daily Schedule and Outcomes
About
The OSE Apprenticeship is a unique opportunity that includes life coaching, reaching the Edge of Knowledge through Rapid Learning, and hands-on, integrated learning. It means doing so in a supportive environment where you collaborate as a cohort, building lifelong friendships. The goal is to build yourself - to build a world based on inclusive collaboration on a level playing field. To get there we help you to transform yourself from a me mindset to a we mindset, as a precondition to a new world based on abundance. We focus on building character as a means to build a better world. While the surface may appear technocratic, the essence is humanitarian.

The daily schedule is 1 hour of design training per day, 3 hours of design work, and 4 hours of build. The outcome is your ability to build a Seed Eco-Home 2, the brick press, 3D printer, and sawmill - and to produce lumber, plastic lumber and construction materials, and masonry block - from open source machines and abundant resources.
2024
This is like a master-student apprenticeship, except that Marcin is perhaps the biggest student. We all learn from each other. I am expecting to learn from everyone, as we all collaborate on mass creation of collaborative genius. This means creating tools for rapid learning to help others perform at a higher level.
OSE is creating 3 main tracks and subtracks within them. The first and foundational is a 4 year builder track.  In the builder track, apprentices learn 20 nuilding trades to the level of Integrated Functional Proficiency by using state of art Integrated Rapid Learning protocols for production and stewardship. Stewardship arises from:Learning How to Learn, Learning How to Think, building character, and expanding one's consciousness of possibility. The basic track involves the whole human experience, foundational to becoming an aware and Integrated Human.

There will be lots of inspiration, and lots of perspiration. Saturdays are dedicated to video production and documentation work. 10 percent of the schedule is 'chores' - which involves the development of infrastructure - such as building new infrastructure or maintaining the old. It's about using the machines we develop as much as possible, so 'dogfooding' our work is an essential part of our immersion learning.
In the Open Sector track, which adds 2 years to the 4 year integrated builder track, apprentices reach a skill set necessary to replicate a Seed Eco-Home franchise in another location.

We will also have a weekly seminar where we discuss the philosophy of open source enterprise, and use socratic dialogue to build on all input in the room. We are all learners, including staff - and we are here to teach each other. Our goal is to develop right livelihoods - using business models that are not based on creating artificial scarcity. The outcome should be that anyone after the 6 months can do full time in open source hardware work - focusing on collaborative innovation and solving pressing world issues. Some may choose to stay with OSE, others may choose to work elsewhere - but in all cases we hope that the spirit of open product development is promulgated throughout the world. We will offer opportunities as they seem fit - as we expect to be flooded with Seed Eco-Home orders and we will have an opportunity to fill these orders, and to continue teachingn others to do so as well.
In the Global Stewardship Track, apprentices learn to build a school campus. While all tracks involve apprentices in teaching, mentoring, training robots, and otherwise leading groups, the Global Stewardship Track focuses on post-graduate level knowhow for innovation in systems Integration. The level of operations pursued in this track is that of high level R&D -;yet is applied in an integrated systems fashion to solving common and practical global problems that are generally deemed unsolvable.

Audience
The 3 tracks are cumulative, and each student is encouraged to engage in lifelong learning by program design and incentives. Work-study is available, and the student sets the pace. The instructors provide a firehouse of distilled content, and apprentices are expected to engage this content at their own pace. We require a collaborative effort from each cohort of 24 students, such that students develop an allied community that teaches each other based on strengths And weaknesses. For integrated learning, collaborative teaching and learning is key, and to promote this, we engage apprentices in teaching and mentoring younger cohorts as soon as the apprentices learn any subject area. This pedagogy builds on the idea that one learns best when one is required to communicate and teach their new learnings to others.
We welcome young women and men of any age to apply, and while some experience in building things is preferred - if you are a fast learner, you are welcome to apply.

Wait, there is a little bit more. If you are interested in the extreme version of this already extreme program, and are already a house builder - then we also invite you to the enterprise track where you learn how to run Seed Eco-Home construction with a swarm team. We have options for all learner levels - so what you get out of this 6 months apprenticeship is a minset ready for full global collaboration - and how much technical execution you learn depends - on your prior experience and speed with which you learn. What we guarantee is hands on skills - as we build, work with teams, and learn to manage swarms.
We develop and build on open and accessible knowhow. For proprietary knowhow, such asiceochip or machine design, we engage in a powerful  transparency-creation process where we collaborate at scale with all necessary stakeholders. We start with rapid learning and collaboration skills in our cohorts, and we distribute these techniques broadly as we evolve them.

We say that 'you set your pay.' Whether you work with us or independently, we hope the skills you learn will have made  you immortal - ie, capable of documenting your work so others can build upon it effectively, spawning a virtuous cycle of future improvement. This is known to us as Economic Time Binding. It's the closest to immortality that we can get to with mortal bodies.
Subtracks
Our expectation is lifelong learning from anyone who joins the program. Within the integrated builder track, we encourage especially those individuals who aspire to high achievement - along the lines of meaning and purpose. We focus on expanding one's consciousness to new areas of possibility and ability. As such, students can choose additional areas of study as soon as basic competencies are met. As such, students can set their own levels of ambition as soon as new opportunities open. We focus on self-sldiscovery across all areas, founded on Moral Intelligence, and a search for excellence and Genius. We study performance psychology, coaching, and other leadership arts to build character. We engage in annual service projects where we aim to deepen a character of service to humanity. Because we pursue deep integration of character building, collaborative approach, modular breakdown, Pedagogy of Abundance, theory, practice, clear application, integrated design, and visible value creation via enterprise - augmented with growth psychology of peak performance - we expect that individuals of average intelligence but high moral character can attain the equivalent of multiple 'college majors' in their engagement of the first four years.

Goals
Collaborative Qualifications Earned
Will we succeed? It's up to us. We'll leverage the full power of open source collaboration, involve a $100k incentive challenge in this, solve the plastic waste issue, and Solve Housing while we are at it. Sign up for this - this will change your life. Oh yes, as a bonus - you'll be welcome to participate in 2 months of the Summer of Extreme Design-Build which is happening Sep through end of November. Selection process is by interview, so apply today. Tuition for this apprenticeship is affordable, and we are offering 70% scholarships to qualified individuals. It doesn't get any better than this.
The unique feature of our program is its collaborative nature, in that each graduate does not only gain the credentials that result from their own learnings - but also residuals of learnings from otherembers of their cohort. Therationale for this, compared to any other program - is that our learning is not only individual. A core component of our program is that students teach other cohort members as the collaborative learning process involves breaking down complex topics in a modular fashion. Students then collaborate to solve larger problems, or build larger things. Because of this teaching and doing experience - according to clearly established collaborative learning protocols - the exposure, retention, and problemsolving ability is augmented by the input of others in the cohort.

Sure it does. The global collaboration involves learning how to manage large-scale collaborative development events in the form of incentive challenges - using platforms such as HeroX.
The concept is that if standards of collaborative literacy include uniform taxonomy, organization, modular breakdown, uniform organization and documentation protocols - then each student effectively has access to problemsolving capacity augmented by the number of individuals in the cohort. The key is the establishment of a collaborative, systems-thinkinh framework, which OSE has been engaged in for the last 2 decades.

Join us for this life-changing opportunity and an integrated program where you learn theory, principle, and practice - in one  - and be part of shifting civilization from proprietary to collaborative. Our goals are nothing short of exactly this - as the dream of open source hardware - shall be realized.
This is true only if degenerate problemsolving techniques are used, if students establish close personal rapport within their cohort sufficient to enable ready mutual consultancy, and if zero access barriers to each other's knowhow and work product are created. This comes from the practice of collaborative literacy, and a collaborative mindset of abundance that we teach for this process.

Introduction
Collaboration is precisely the nature of knowhow and process that we are creating via our cor principles of transparency, open knowhow, and inclusion. We literally enter into a social contract within the cohort that turns the power of many into the power of each one in the cohort.

The goal of the OSE Apprenticeship is a 6 month to 1 year program designed to get change-minded individuals started on replication of land-based facilities based on the OSE model of regenerative design. If you want to build an enterprise, eco-community, land-based facility, hackerspace, a flexible fabrication facility - this is the place to design it.
This is quite distinct from industry standards, where proprietary exclusion and competitive waste are the norm. Because the general systems assumption is a mindset of scarcity, our method provides a clear collaborative advantage. The promise that we teach is one of abundance, and therefore introduce a realistic possibility for leveling the playing field in and across sectors. If successful, this achievement would constitute historical significance.

The final project for each participant is a product release of a collaboratively-designed and developed product, building on the OSE product ecology.
During the cohort recruiting process, we select for potential team players. In our program, we build personal psychology and character to develop the humility necessary bfor taking on monumental work. As the program evolves, we build teams and meta-cohorts who will collaborate in future enterprise replication and evolution.

Framework
Goals
The goal of the Apprenticeship is to transform civilization to a level playing field where everyone has a fair opportunity to thrive. This means we have a strong grounding in service, such that this becomes accessible not only to the pretty people, but to everyone.
The OSE Campus is what OSE is building and developing - making the road while walking. The Campus is a mixture of an educational campus, a regenerative farm, a hackerspace, an ecoindustrial park, and place of lifelong learning, and more. Our model of change is to build infrastructures which provide for the pursuit of happiness in harmony with natural life support systems.

The focus of the learning is site design and build - from the built environment, to renewable energy production, tools and machinery development, and land stewardship- towards building working, regenerative communities and societal infrastuctures that change the world. Along with this comes the study of governance, entrepreneurship, and philosophy that underlies this work. We infect participants with notions of possibility that arises from building tangible things - and provide the opportunity to continue development with OSE after the apprenticeship. We will be hiring, based on enterprise surrounding the Seed Eco-Home project, which has a goal: to solve housing. In our innovative model, collaborators set their own performance-based pay - based on gaining the necessary skills and experience for their chosen path.

This is the on-site version of the OSE Mentorship - which introduces in-person collaborative design as well as access to the workshop and land-based facility for building and testing of real things.

Teamwork
We work as teams. We are all about unleashing collaborative genius. The first cohort of 12 includes 12 apprentices, 2 class mentors (Adjunct professor of architecture, adjunct professor of engineering). The whole group works directly with Marcin and the rest of the world on solving pressing world issues. Using OSE's global collaboration techniques, we engage in an open and transparent process aimed at creating rapid learning and rapid transformation of the world's institutions according to best practices. The day-to-day is learning by doing - both design and builds. There is a strong emphasis on documenting, as the intent is to have participants replicate OSE-inspired operations all over the world.

Thus there are 3 main relationships here, and 4 tracks.

1. The base team works as a pair: 2 apprentices, where one documents. Here strong documentation and video skills must be learned. Because we are showing how to reboot civilization from scratch - starting with how we are educated and collaborated to do so. That happens by continuous reporting. We all work on exposing design - because understanding design is key to redesigning a world that works. Thus, we produce design guides that demistify and create access. Each student's annual project involves creating at t least a small design guide around a project that pushes the state of art in any topic - whether house design, regenerative agriculture, engineering, or design of economic institutions. We all collaborate on this, and invite the wider world to do so as well.

2. The second layer is working with the mentors, who provide design guidance and engage in socratic dialogue.

3. The third layer is the internet - for working openly. Guided by Marcin and OSE's collaborative development protocols, we engage with the larger global community. We also host on-site events, such as workshops, the Extreme Enterprise Hackathon, and the Summer of Extreme Design-Build

Schedule and Intent
Typical schedule involves 1-2 hour of lecture 5 days per week, 1-3 hours of design time, and 5 hours of build time. The mentors serve as workshop instructors. The focus of the lecture time is learning how to learn, and learning how to design.

The schedule is designed to teach critical thinking and design skills - towards a capacity of taking problems and solving them by First-Principles Reasoning and Socratic Design where we bring out collective genius. This is done by a teaching style focusing on Learning how to Think, and Learning how to Design. We all teach eath other. We value supercooperators, not superstars.

The program is literally about building civilization from scratch, from humble beginnings, up to modern civilization manifest in the OSE Campuses. The OSE Campuses are organized largely around lifelong learning, and are a breeding ground for movement entrepreneurs who gain economic independence to pursue world-changing work.

We question everything - not only how to redesign society - but why we should do so. For a given product, we don't just say - how do we produce it better-faster-stronger-more open-more collaborative. Instead - we ask - should we be producing it in the first place. This gets into philisophy - grounding ourselves in humility and learning so we can stand on the shoulders of giants - not on the shoulders of midgets. Socratic Design reflects some of our notions - that knowledge can't be transferred, it must be brought out. That many of our ideas are based on inaccurate assumptions - and humility can bring us past these.

Integrated learning to us means that we ask why something should be built - then how we design it - and then we get our hands dirty building the things - so that we have a full feedback loop on the appropriateness of what we have done.

About 75% of the time will be spent on new design and innovation, and about 25% of the time will be spent on more mundane tasks of site infrastructure. However, the 25% of the time will still be about innovation: because we design group processes for effective builds - and document the same - so at all times it's about a cycle of innovation-documentation as we midwife new paradigms into existence.

Activities
*Day to day - Students works as pairs - developer and documenter, with role switching as needed. Generally with 2:1 ratio of hands-on learning (building) to classroom (videos, lectures, design time, documentation time). For the documenter in each pair, the ratio is reverse - 1:2 of hands on to docementation/video production. This is a socratic process of learning via direct engagement.
*Philosophy of Collaboration Seminar - once a week we gather for a 1-3 hour seminar in which we delve deeper into important questions related to collaborative design for a transparent and inclusive economy of abundance, via socratic dialogue. The intet is creation of collaborative genius. All hands get on deck to prepare for this one month ahead of program start each year.
*Build Days - Saturdays are build days, where we work on infrastructure builds such as construction, machines, or agriculture.
*Extreme Enterprise Hackathon - students in all tracks are required to participate in a 3 day enterprise-building event that results in economic transformation of a specific industry.
*Summmer of Extreme Design and Build - in the heat of the summer, we collaborate on transformative builds.

Competence and Degrees Offered
The final exam for any competency is - can you lead a build of a certain thing of interest? The build may be complete or parts of the product, to the point that it is clear that the apprentice can indeed build.

For housing - and the technician track - with all the materials available on site - can you lead and teach a group of people to build a house in 5 days? You have 6 months to learn this. This could be for one of the house subsystems - or all of them: foundation and site work; carpentry; electrical, plumbing, PV, and interior finishing.

We are hiring successful apprentices pending successful learning. We start at $20/hr for technicians who build one of the house subsystems. We start at $25/hr for those who can build 2-3 of the subsystems. We start $30 to someone who can lead a house build themselves while teaching others to do so. We start at $35 for anyone who can design new versions of the house in SweetHome3D and FreeCAD. we start at $40 for those who can design, teach, and build. For people who can lead workshops building the Seed Eco-Home 2 - we start at $50.

The main competency is the Seed Eco-Home 2 build and management of such a build. Other competencies include machine building - 3D printer, tractor, CNC torch table, large 3D printer, filament maker, and sawmill. Demonstrated competency means building any of these in 1-5 days of build time.

Certification may be earned for:
#Complet house build
#Subsystems of house - such as framing, foundation, roof, plumbing+electrical, polished concrete, interior finishing, PV, automation, aquaponic greenhouse, roof system, biodigester, and wastewater reclamation
#3D printer build
#Large Construction Materials Printer Build
#Tractor build
#CNC torch table build
#Enterprise Modeling Certification - understanding cost structure and ability to produce a testable revenue model of high likelihood of succeeding
#FreeCAD Badge
#Advanced FreeCAD Badge - re-design of the Seed Eco-Home versions
#Design of Tractors
#Design of 3D Printers
#Design of Filament Makers
#Design of Plastic Shredders
#Design of CEB Machines
#Design of Sawmills
#Incentive Challenge Certification - how to run a large-scale incentive challenge
#Supercooperator Certificaiton - ability to log, FreeCAD, Google Slides, use templates, maintain part libraries
#Video Production - ability to shoot footage, edit videos, narrate, write scrips, add soundtracks, and do graphical overlays for promotional videos
#Marketing certification - ability to use Clickfunnels or similar software to achieve good results in product promotion and sales
#Negotiation and Conflict Resolutio - ability to negotiate effectively for adding value and for conflict resolution and creation of win-win situations
#Microcontrollers and automation - ability to design and build simple automation devices for controlling machines and powered devices, including simple programming of control logic
#CAM Certification - ability to generate cutting files for metal, wood, milling, multimachine motion, and 3D printing
#General Machine Design - how to design any electromechanical device including CNC machines, heavy machines, and tools of various types
#Power Electronics Basics - ability to design and build simple Arduino controlled power electronic devices such as variable input/output inverters, rectifiers, solid state transformers, and high frequency power supplies. This course is in development.

Tracks
OSE's Model of Change for such transformation is building an OSE education campus for every population center of 100,000. This assumes universal access to our services anywhere in the world. As we seek to understand the world prior to being understood, we spread worldwide to learn about local conditions and relevant issues that stand in the way of human prosperity in harmony with natural life support systems.
*Build - you can learn welding and metal fabrication, house construction including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, mechanics, machine building, microcontrollers and automation, CNC machining, aquaponics, PV installation, heavy machinery operation across diverse machine areas from housing to 3d printers to autonomous tractors. We offer only integrated skill sets - for example, you can't just learn welding or aquaponics, but must diversify to at least 3 areas in a 1 year period. We encourage 30% of work in another track, such as Design or Enterprise tracks.
*Design - house design, machine design, landscape design, mechanical design, product design, basic power electronics design, and more.
*Enterprise - how to run a Seed Eco-Home Enterprise in another location.
*Movement Entrepreneurship - For those interested in a full Open Source Ecology PhD level equivalent - meaning mastery of a generalized skill set appplied to solving Pressing World Issues

Essentially - the learning pathway of each Apprentice depends on their existing skills. If the priority for someone is learning hands on skills, there will be plenty of opportunity. If the priority is developing enterprise - then OSE can guide apprentices in such collaborative development.
As such, every Apprentice is charged with mission impossible: to raise their skill set from builder to franchise operator to Campus leader - providing transformative education in their location. We are beginning to train 100,000 such individuals worldwide. As such, we create no glass ceiling to any of our 18 year old entrants, with an expectation of lifelong learning on both sides.

But the underlying tone is we - not me - we all publish everything to the world - the essence of all the tracks is collaborative development of products that can help everyone. We go into the philosophy of this - the essence being that material survival must be guaranteed, and each person must be gain high power of independence - so that they can then become a good team player in an interdependent world. We are all in it together, and we believe that the Collaborative Singularity is near.
Each Campus starts as a franchise with immersion education for transformative enterprise. Each franchise bootstraps to a robust rapid learning infrastructure across sectors, while itself behaving as a model civilization and culture to reinvent the world. This includes all the Infrastructures of modern civilization, except open source and designed for leveling the playing field for prosperity.

Cost
Collaboration
The payment scale for the 6 month program is from $6500 to $12,000 including room and board for the 6 months. Depending on the financial condition of the student. Full tuition is $12k. Deep discount is $6500.
Our unique feature is the level of collaboration sought. First, cohorts operate as swarms of 24, not as individuals. Once multiple cohorts build to 10 units, a Campus of 240 works as a collaborative swarm of 240, as implied in the Collaborative Qualifications section above.

We can offer work-study opportunities as needed.
Once a campus gains the power of 240 individuals who collaborate closely, a significant problemsolving unit is borne. However, this pales in problemsolving power to multiple such units operating with zero collaborative waste. Imagine saying 100 of such campuses collaborating seamlessly in design or builds - meaning more than 20,000 individuals combined on a single mission. Or take the nominal limit of 100k campuses collaborating as such - or 24M people in unison. Such is capable of creating microstates or major infrastructure projects in the time scale of a weekend.

Support Staff
We are intentionally requiring one week of community service per year from all of our members as part of a culture of service. It is intended to be a pioneering adventure, like Burning Man with a purpose.
We will have Marcin as main instructor, a workshop master to run workshop activity, and a cook/residential advisor to nourish the body and psychological growth of the students. But, we are all teaching each other - so these roles are divided amongst everyone - though the 'leader servants' are expected to provide exceptional skill in their respective duty.

The aim of the OSE Apprenticeship, which is the first 4 years of the total 12 year OSE education experience, is several:

 1. To reach the edge of knowledge: to understand what are the unsolved issues and development needs in all of human endeavors. This spans everything from basic societal issues such as wealth distribution or racism - to difficult research problems - see Convergent Research - and to the design of modern institutions and infrastructures.
 2. To learn to design and build just about anything. This means learning how technology, infrastructures, and institutions are designed - and learning divergent thinking and convergent collaboration to design solutions in out-of-box, creative ways.
 3. To gain financial independence as a means to work on important issues and problems for as long as it takes to arrive at solutions, as opposed to simply trying to survive or make a living.

Collaboration is precisely the nature of knowhow and process that we are creating via our cor principles of transparency, open knowhow, and inclusion. We literally enter into a social contract within the cohort that turns the power of many into the power of each one in the cohort.

During the cohort recruiting process, we select for potential team players. In our program, we build personal psychology and character to develop the humility necessary bfor taking on monumental work. As the program evolves, we build teams and meta-cohorts who will collaborate in future enterprise replication and evolution.

Goals

The goal of the Apprenticeship is to transform civilization to a level playing field where everyone has a fair opportunity to thrive. This means we have a strong grounding in service, such that this becomes accessible not only to the pretty people, but to everyone.

Collaboration

Our unique feature is the level of collaboration sought. First, cohorts operate as swarms of 24, not as individuals. Once multiple cohorts build to 10 units, a Campus of 240 works as a collaborative swarm of 240, as implied in the Collaborative Qualifications section above.

We are intentionally requiring one week of community service per year from all of our members as part of a culture of service. It is intended to be a pioneering adventure, like Burning Man with a purpose.
