Carbon steel bandsaw blades are used in both metal and wood cutting applications. While there are different materials in use for both applications, carbon steel is used for both applications. However this is problematic because the term 'carbon steel' is a non-technical term which does not properly describe type of steel used. Someone with a greater knowledge of metallurgy will need to input their knowledge on this topic.
However, things like drill bits, tap and die sets, and some springs(car springs?) contain high-carbon steel which might be able to be recycled for this purpose.
Goals
- Lifetime design
- Scalable
- Modular
- Easy to maintain
General design goals
- Durability
- Easy repair/replace
Evolution
Wanted: Brief description about the latest version the bandsaw
Theory
Wanted: Brief paragraph regarding the reasoning behind adding this tool to the GVCS
Relevant Links
Wanted: Sources for information regarding relevant technology
Conceptual Notes
Wanted: Ifs, ands and buts.
Development
The bandsaw will greatly improve the efficiency of the Sawmill allowing for much larger trees to be cut in a single pass. The smaller kerf(cut size) will result for less waste of the tree.
- Tilt-blade Sawmill
